Hi all, Just wanted to update you on my little girl Shayla She is doing fantastic and is still not on any vet meds. She turned 4 years old on the 8th of sept but still behaves and bounces around like a puppy which can become very painful at times. Shayla is stil a complete wimp at times but such a loving cuddly girl aswell. Still couldnt be without her as she is my little ray of sunshine on a more personal note i am going to be a first time nanna in December and a second time nanna in March so lots going on Hope everyone is ok and i will try to get on here more but to be honest i dont actually use my computer very much at all these days. Take care xxx

Great to hear from you Tracey and lovely to hear Shayla is doing OK. Strange that you have come on as I was only thinking of Shayla the other day.
Congratulations on becoming an expectant nanna, grandchildren are the next best thing to dogs.

I havent been on here for a few years now but thought i should let you know that Shayla is still going strong at nearly 8 and half years old, shes doing fantastic. If you dont remember the specialist told us that she wouldnt see her 5th birthday as her joints were so bad yet she is still here bouncing around like a pup lol. We made the decision about a year and a half ago to get her some vet meds as she did start to struggle, the vet put her on Rimadyl but only a small dose, 25mg which she is still on and doing great. I have kept her on her natural diet and carried on with the turmeric, salmon oil and egg shells which i swear are her saviours. She is still a happy girl and loves the grandchildren (got 3 now) she is very protective and the only slight issue we have is that she can now be a bit funny with people around the kids. I tend to have to put her away as her protectiveness can be too much. People who know her love her, the grandkiddies adore her so she is still a very much loved member of our family who are so grateful to have her in our lives especially as she is well into her 9th year which is good for a Rottie anyway but with her joint problems and prognosis we feel very lucky to have her (still).
I hope that there are still some on here who remember her and are pleased to hear that she is still doing very well. Sorry its been so long to give an update but 3 grandchildren later and changes in family and life have taken over and i just havent got round till now to update you. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year xxx

hi Tracey Thank you so much for the fabulous update on Shayla, I'm so pleased to hear she is still doing well. Shayla's adoption is one I'll never forget doing, you set out to look for a Shih Tzu and then saw our post for an 8 week old Rottweiler puppy, you were in love from that moment and have gone on to give her the most amazing home. I still tell this story to this day, when people like you see a photograph and just know there and then that is the dog for them. You have been right there with her through all her surgery and problems with her joints, never once thinking of giving up on her or counting the cost. this is the little lady you fell in love with all those years ago

Hi Pauline, she was cute then but is absolutely gorgeous now lol. I wouldnt know what to do without her to be honest as she bounced through my door on that first day and never stopped I remember telling you that if she walked through my front door that she would have a forever home and even when you offered to help with her medical bills i couldnt do it as she was my girl and my responsibility. We have had some tough, sad, stressful but mostly hugely happy times and i wouldnt change any of it. We loved her then but adore her now and she is doing brilliantly and still going strong so fingers crossed it continues as we really couldnt imagine her not being in our lives. We still have our little lexi lab aswell who is coming up to 11 years old,she has slowed down a bit now but is still doing ok and as daft as ever. They both adore the grandkiddies and enjoy play time with them. They both have a special bond with my grandaughter Ellie who is 18 months old but also Ellie is attached to them, she is so gentle and loving to them both that they literally stay right by her side when she is at our house. Im so glad you allowed us to have Shayla and will always be grateful to you for trusting that i was being honest with you about the home she would have with us. Take care xx
