Epic fail by a Rott:
Having walked the dogs, Steve and the pair of mutleys were walking down the path outside our house when Shay spotted Milly (our cat) under a car, she is obsessed with her. The path splits in two, one to our front garden and the other to my neighbours, well, steve was reaching to open the gate and Shay was still watching Milly, Milly decided to run down the path into my neighbours, Shayla went to chase.............
And ran straight into a Magnolia tree!!!! Now who says Rotts are bright pmsl

Shayla has just been for a walk around the local lake, as you know she hasnt been allowed to do this for 8 months because of her operation, well she met quite a few dogs, a 16 week old bulldog, 2 spaniels a yorkshire terrier that growled at her but all was great she meeted and greeted and had fun until a poxy woman with a black lab (off lead) saw her coming put the dog on a lead and gave them such a wide birth that she was almost walking in the lake. Shayla did bark because she wanted to say hello she wasnt being aggressive but this woman gave them such an evil look, stupid stupid stupid idiot!!!! I am being polite on here but in my head i am calling her far worse lol I get so wound up by peoples attitude, it stinks sometimes but at least she did get to meet and play a bit which is always good for her x

If I see another dog coming when I'm walking my collie bitch, I do the same, as she is very bad with strange dogs unless they ignore her completely. I would rather be safe than sorry - though it must look strange to pet owners who, themselves, have sociable dogs.

It was definitely because Shayla is a Rott, you get to know the difference with experience and also she gave them such a filthy look as if my girl had no right being there. I understand that they can be a frightening dog but she was extreme in her avoidance which annoys me. It had nothing to do with her dog at all. We have faced a lot of prejudice as people on here will know and it will continue while idiot people like her behave in this manner. Steve and i were saying that because Shayla gave a woof to say hello we could imagine her going home and saying that a Rottweiler had a go at them, from the look on her face it we are more than likely right!!!

I must admit when I'm out with Alby I do what that lady did if a large dog comes towards us, as it is him that is unpredictable & I don't want him getting in a fight tbh . However I do explain that he is a rescue & unsure/scared of big dogs. It is amazing how many silly people say "oh my dog is friendly though" as if that is going to miraculously make Alby suddenly all sniffs & calmness! I have to make it clear & reply "but mine isn't" usually while he's barking & snarling - so they get the message . However I do know what you mean; you can tell the difference when someone is being downright prejudiced. Shayla is gorgeous, we have a soft-spot for Rotties but unfortunately our house/garden is not big enough. Hubby is always saying when we win the lottery & live in our mansion with acres of land, we are going to adopt one lol. I keep telling him if that ever comes to pass we will start our own FOA SE - with kennels too (I can fantasize with the best of them ;D).

She really has grown into a beauty Karen xx Jacquiann: I know what you mean as i had a Yellow Labrador that had to be muzzled and always on a lead as soon as we stepped out of the front door as he didnt like small children or dogs It was for his own safety aswell as others and the amount of people that still allowed their off lead dog to run up to him then shout abuse when he pinned them!!!! I know what it is like from both sides but as my friends on here know we have faced quite a bit of prejudice just because we own a Rottweiler. Yes you do learn the difference in peoples attitude, some are nervous but when they bite the bullet and meet her they soon change their minds, which is lovely but others are still just awful. Why they think its ok to shout "They kill kids" to "Why did you get that" i will never understand. When Shayla is taken out we now have to be people readers aswell as be able to read dogs which is so sad. Fortunately Shayla is so loving and friendly she has changed a lot of peoples minds on the breed but there are still a lot of haters I just think its their loss as she is a happy girl and the joy of our lives, i have never regretted adopting this beautiful girl and have become very protective of her especially with her health issues. I would have a house full of them if i won the lottery, fantastic breed and so special Shayla has surpassed herself on the wimp factor........................she is terrified of...................the lettuce we put in the pond for our Koi lmao. I wish i had the camera as her bum overtook her head as she ran for her life into the house just because the lettuce moved, Steve and i were wetting ourselves. So much for the big bad snarling vicious Rottweiler pmsl

Shayla did 19 and a half minutes at hydro today, she is now officially their fittest dog woo hoo Not bad for a girl with chronic juvenile arthriris and its only been 9 months since her operation, happy days for her and us ♥ xxx They had someone go in during the week who said their dog was very fit, the poor thing only lasted 3 minutes so they were rather put out lol

Just wanted to update you on Shayla............... Having spoke to my vet about how well she is doing and the fact that she does 22 mins at hydro now, it was decided to try her off lead, we allowed her to run for just a few mins and thought she was ok unfortunately after resting she could hardly walk and it took her a week to recover and now her back legs are starting to play her up, we are devastated. You all know how much we love this girl but we cannot put her through any more operations, her separation anxiety alone is enough of a reason for that. We are keeping a close eye on her and she is still a very happy girl in herself so at least that is something. We still have the vet meds route to go down if and when they are needed but to be honest i dont think it will be long before we have to especially with winter coming up fast. It has been a year since her original operation and the specialist gave her a max of 3 years before her legs will not hold her so please keep praying that she proves him wrong We cant stand the thought of not having her in our lives, she was born to be our little girl. Sorry its not a happy post but i thought you would like to know where she is with her issues. Take care all and i will keep you posted if and when anything changes xxx
