Shayla had her check up with the vet yesterday............He was very pleased with her progress and the fact that she still seems so happy. He took her stitches out which she didnt mind one bit Shayla is really getting a bit stir crazy in her cage though and i really dont know what to do. She is so used to jumping and playing around with Lexi so it must be so hard for her We are trying to keep her occupied even getting in the cage with her and at night we lift her onto the bed for a good cuddle with loads of slobber mixed in :/ Im sure we will all get through this and come out with a smile but i just feel so sorry for her at the moment which is probably what she is aiming for lol xxx

Definitely checking these out Nicki, thank you I think she needs something bless her although she is being so good. I just want to keep her as happy as she normally is but with being cooped up it must be hard for her so will be making another investment, me thinks lol xxx

Just a quick update on how my little girl is getting on: Shay was getting very distressed being cooped up in her cage so we spoke to the vet, he gave her Zylkene for anxiety and Acp to make her sleepy. We only had her on the Acp for 2 days as we didnt like the affect it had on her, made her so spaced out and she struggled to even get out to toilet (we only gave her half the dose aswell) so we stopped it. The Zylkene has helped though as she isnt so anxious. We still carry her (with great difficulty lol) on to the bed every night for her evening cuddles and she settles beautifully. She has now done 3 weeks of her recovery so we are hoping that in another 3 weeks she will be able to start the hydotherapy treatment, fingers crossed. Time seems to be dragging and it is hard work keeping her amused while in the cage but a kiss and cuddle really seems to help We got her a brain training game...................she couldnt be bothered to learn to push the knobs and decided it was quicker to eat through the toy to get the treats lmao So that was removed!!!! Typical of her lol

Shayla has now done 6 weeks into her recovery and can have a 5 min walk a day She still has a long way to go but is doing ok, she just wants to play and bounce around although we do allow her out of the cage in the living room with her favourite ball for a few mins, you should see the big Rottie smile when shes in there lol. Its hard to balance her physical health with her emotional and mental health so we feel its the right thing to do for her but she is happy and thats the main thing xxx

Great to hear that your beautiful girl is doing so well. ;D
It's really hard when they are feeling so much better and want to be up and running and still have to be confined.
