Name: Betty Boo
Age: 3 years old
Breed: Pug cross Shih Tzu
Can I live with Children:Older sensible ones
Can I live with cats: No
Can I live with other dogs: Yes
Fostered In: Worcestershire
Betty Boo is a three-year old Pug cross Shih Tzu girl who is being fostered in Worcestershire. She came in with her two unsold pups (Hansel and Gretel) who have now been rehomed. Betty Boo is now ready to find a home of her own.
People – Betty Boo takes to most people and enjoys meeting both adults and children. She would live with older, more sensible children in her new home. There has been one occasion where she became fearful while meeting a man but after some reassurance this soon passed. She does have a habit of jumping up at people but this is being worked on in her foster home.
Dogs – Betty Boo lives with another dog and there have been no issues. She happily meets other dogs of all shapes and sizes in the park while walking. She would be happy to live with another dog or on her own.
Cats – Not cat tested but due to her playful nature we will not rehome Betty Boo with cats.
In the home – Betty Boo has settled well in her foster home. She is a clever girl and learns quickly what is expected of her, but is strong willed. She goes in and out of the crate and has been left for 20 minutes with another dog for company. Betty Boo will chew. She hasn’t touched furniture items but has shredded a cardboard box!
Out and about – Betty walks well on the lead and doesn’t pull. She enjoys her walks and meeting both people and other dogs. As it is early days in her foster home she hasn’t yet been let off the lead so we don’t know what her recall is like. She travels well in the car.
Type of home – Betty Boo is very puppy-like in her behaviour. She will need clear, consistent boundaries and further training. Her new home must be aware of this and be willing to work with her. As she loves human company we think she would prefer her people to be home for most of the day. Any children in the household should be older and aware of Betty’s needs. Betty doesn’t need a very active home but regular walks/runs are a necessity as she enjoys letting of steam. She is very fast on those little legs!
She has a very subtle heart murmur which has been checked by the vet (heart rate, chest xray, ECG and ultrasound. No further investigation is required and no medication required.
Betty Boo is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Worcestershire.
