Sad news today. ''Little man'' the Tup lamb rescued nearly two week ago, suddenly became very ill this afternoon and despite rushing him to the Vets we lost him. Sorry I couldn't help you Little man - I'm going to miss you. x

Vet thinks it was a ''twisted gut' Nothing could be done - but it doesn't really help knowing that. I frequently ''acquire' animals I can normally find forever homes for them. A couple of weeks ago I managed to re home three semi wild Shetland sheep with two lambs to a rare breeds sheep charity. ( Still waiting for the last Ewe to lamb !) The sheep had been abandoned last year on our land and it took a while to find the right home for them. The lambs were gorgeous and I was so sorry to see them go but I knew this was the right thing to do them - a guaranteed forever home for mums and lambs. Little man had a lovely home lined up for him -I didn't want him to go either, but he needed to be in a small group with other lambs and it ''felt right'' But he didn't get the chance to play with friends and run in the totally joyous way only lambs can. This little chap became something special and I miss making up his bottles especially the early morning / last thing a night feeds. I was ready to say goodbye - just not this way. Living in a rural community you learn that sadly, you can't always win these battles- it's the price you pay and sometimes it's a s**t price . But it is a worthwhile price -just not quite worthwhile this week.
