Hi All Evie (Amy I think before she came to me, but Evie suits her much better) is a very special little kitten. She creeps into your heart without you realising She has been through a lot in her short little life, but nothing of that has deterred her from being a playful cheeky little madam, just like she should be. She is a delight to have around, loves a cuddle and a play and is very affectionate but is oblivious to her condition. Before I tell you any more about Evie, have a look and see how gorgeous and special she is:- Evie enjoying a little rest - Evie and my cat Archie playing - Evie telling Archie 'I want to play' - Archie giving in and playing ;D - Ok, here is her story! Evie was either picked up by her tail or squashed when she was very little (she is approx 12 weeks old now), but the end result was that her tail needed to be amputated and it was unsure whether her bladder and rectum were damaged. Evie came to me a week ago and we have been observing her. She does manage to go to the toilet, however it is random and does not seem controlled. Today it was confirmed by the vet that Evie has no control over her toilet functions, but just 'goes' without realising (ie she is incontinent). There is no cure for this unfortunately. Evie needs a very special home who can give her the life she deserves, she is a happy, playful little kitten like any other, but will be needing a home where she can be herself and that special extra care, preferably a farm or somewhere where she can be outside but have comfortable sleeping quarters, cuddles and the love she deserves. If you are prepared to give this special little lady a home for life or be a long term fosterer, please get in touch with Eileen, Jan or myself. Thank you for reading ;D

This really is one very special little girl. She also had a fractured pelvis so has been through the mill bless her. It has not daunted her for one moment and the improvement in her is amazing.
We had thought that she would have to be pts if no improvement was seen but although she still has issues this girl deserves to have the life she fought so hard to keep.

That is great - how did the visit go? Any chance of seeing the article? Which paper was she in? I totally missed it

Unfortunately for Evie, it wasn't quite the right home for her , so she is still looking for her new home. The newspapers would have been the Rhonda leader and I think the Postpaid Observer.

I am so very sorry to have to tell everyone that Evie has been pts. This was done after much thought and a discussion with our vet.
We had thought that Evie had some control over emptying her bowels but it became apparent that this was not the case. When examined by the vet there was faeces all along her intestine and long term this would have caused her all sorts of problems.
She had almost no feeling around her bottom and did not try to keep herself clean becauce she was not aware that she had poohed or weed. This again would cause problems with the risk of flys even with regular washing by a carer.
It was a heartbreaking decision to make because apart from this problem she was otherwise a normal, playful fun little kitten and it was with great distress that this course of action has been taken.
Thank you so much Birgit for all you did for her and I know she will be missed by you, me and her little cat friends at mine.
