Well I’m stunned to see that my 3 won a rosette each in the photo show but am overwhelmed that Neli won one in the senior moment class.
Neli Grotbag has lived with me for over 16 yrs and though I’d had rescue dogs for many years before her, she is my reason for becoming actively involved in rescue.
Nel had been severely abused when she joined my family as a young adult dog. She could never forget the extreme abuse she suffered and lived in absolute terror of humans for the rest of her very long life. One of the most humbling experiences of my life is that she eventually learnt to trust me.
This rosette means so much to me and is a special tribute to an extra special girl because Neli died very suddenly and peacefully in my arms last Saturday.

Oh Jude I'm so very sorry to read about your special girly Neli...BIG 's for you with love. Neli sounds such a special doglet and she looks lovely in her winning piccie, so glad she won a rosette as a momento just for you.
Neli, run and play happily with all the Bridge furbabies, another star in the sky.

So sorry to hear about Neli
Beyond The Rainbow
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Where meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Jude, so very sorry to hear about Neli. Winning a place in the Senior Moment class is a lovely tribute to her and to you . A wonderful memory for you to treasure. Your post was very moving. It is a tribute beyond measure that Neli learnt to trust you (of course you know that !) Thank you for sharing the memory of your special girl with us. You must be very proud of both her and yourself. Thanks to Neli there will be many dogs with good reason to bless the day you met; that is the greatest tribute of all.

you say that Neli was the reason you became active in rescue. well i could say that she was sent to you for a purpose. Jude, you were meant to be helping all the unwanted, abused and abandoned dogs, as you do - and Neli, I thank you for bringing us together in your own way.
Jude, thinking of you at this particularly hard and sad time. Please ring if you need me.

Thank you all for your good thoughts and support, you'll never know how much it's appreciated.
I asked Jan to move this to a more appropriate thread because my original post was intended to express how touched I was that my extra special Neli who left me so suddenly, should receive a rosette.....it feels like a tribute to her and means so much.
However, since my post, this week has turned into one of the most heartbreaking of my life.
My Jack aka Methusaleh who also won a rosette in the senior moment category, very suddenly succumbed to old age on Friday night.
I asked Jan to move Neli's thread because I felt that I can't let Jack go unmentioned.
He was the king of monster terriorists for most of his life until senility kicked in a year ago, since which time he has been the sweetest of sweet old men. From a dog who would make a meal of any fingers that tried to pick him up, he was transformed into a baby who's favourite pastime was to be wrapped in a blanket for a cwtch.
Oh dear, I did send him off with his blanket, but if it's true what they say about Rainbow Bridge, it'll be in shreds now. I just hope that the little beggar is behaving himself.
Rest easy kids, I'm so missing you both

Jude, I'm so sorry you're going through the heartbreak again so soon. Big hugs to you, and thank you for putting aside your grief to help other dogs in need as you did this weekend. It takes one very special lady to do that and I'm sure Jack & Neli would have been smiling down on you telling the others 'that's our Mum there isn't she great'
