I am feeling a little maudlin tonight so I hope you will forgive me. The loss of Russ, such a good friend to FOARCT, has made me realise that I don't always tell everyone how much I appreciate their work and support.
I started the rescue as a one woman band all those years ago and it stayed like that for a few years. Jan badgered me in to letting her help and then more people came on board and when I look at what we have today I am in awe.
I have many good qualities and some excellent ones. I have vision and enthusiasm in abundance and I can work long and hard. I also have many faults and I know that at times they can be hard to live with. I am though what I am and what you see is what you get. I would never go out of my way to do anyone a bad turn and I care deeply for animals and people although sometimes the people bit gets stretched to the limits. I have made many amazing friends and a few enemies along the way.
I have the worst memory possible and this can drive people bonkers. I know that cos it drives me mad as well. I don't always remember to thank people as I should and to tell them how much I appre iate their help, support, involvement and work.
I made a choice to live this life and I cannot tell you how much I owe so many of you for buying in to it and being there. We have between us managed to help so many animals. There have been times when things have gone wrong but everything is a leaning curve and I try not to make the same mistakes twice.
Anyway, to get back to the point, I just wanted to say thank you. See I told you I was feeling maudlin.

You're entitled to feel maudlin Eileen, and I'm sure that I speak for all of us when I say "We'll forgive you" We are all guilty of not appreciating people at times, and sometimes life events stop us in our tracks and make us realise this. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you so very much for all the hard work that you do. You are an inspiration to us all, and without you ,so many animals would not be leading the happy lives that they are today. You are a very very special person. THANK YOU SO MUCH EILEEN....................FOR EVERYTHING!!!! xxx

I know just how you feel, Eileen. A very dear friend of mine had a terrible stroke recently and is now facing the rest of her life in residential care - things like that certainly make you think. Like everyone else, I am very happy to be a small part of your extended "family of Friends". It's certainly changed my life too, and I hope it will continue to do so. Thank you for steering the ship so thoughtfully and for making us all feel we belong

I have been a member for quite some time but always in the background. I want to extend my thanks for being able to see who is right for what dog! In my case despite the difficult logistics you saw that Ben was destined for us. It might have been so much easier to home him with someone nearer but YOU know when something is right! A special gift! Long may your caring wonderful rescue continue! Mary x

Eileen this rescue feels so much like "family" we are all here because we believe in what you do.
Bryn has changed our lives and you and your team did that for us and him.
If we can help we do and as everyone has said helping FOA gives us all a great deal of joy.

I also feel the rescue has become more like a family, and I am very proud to be part of it,as for you feeling Maudling, you are entitled, and as for not always saying thank you, those that know you and your work don't need those words all the time,we all know you appreciate everything that is done to help the animals, long may it continue.

I think it is us who need to thank you Eileen - without you I wouldn't have Alfie and Sam in my life and they are just the best I also wouldn't get the chance to help other dogs on their way into a home - with support from everyone when it is tough and people to laugh with when it is good. I feel very lucky to be a small part of FOTA
