Who has recently done two trips to Swindon to pick up poorly dogs for us.
Yesterday she collected Branston a very little tri colour JRT with very sore boys bits. This little man must have had something very horrid happen to him as after a week they are still very sore with skin missing. He was being snappy when first picked up by the pound staff but was so scared and sore. They have been working with him and he is now a much happier little man. He loves Teddy already and they are having great games this morning.
She also brought back a beautiful medium sized black and tan girl who is only about 8 months old and although a little on the thin size is an absolute sweetheart. She is booked for spaying next week and already having a play with the others.
The other little lady has had a rough time. She was hit by a car and has two breaks and two dislocations in one of her legs. She has also lost some skin and has some very sore areas. She is a small JRT and at the moment is in a splint and on pain relief. She will see our vet on Monday and we will decide the way forward but it looks like an op.
The lady that knocked her over is interested in possible adoption so maybe out of something horrid.
Have to say what a fantastic job Alison and her team do in Swindon. They always go the extra mile and find places for ail the dogs that are suitable for rehoming and dogs that are injured or poorly are seen by the vet. Even ones with major problems or very old are not given up on and Alison will find a rescue that is willing to take them on.
They see past the snappiness that some dogs exhibit when they are brought in as strays. They understand that the poor things are often terrified and that the behavior they are exhibiting is most often a result of the trauma they have been through.
I have huge respect for them and wish that all pounds showed the same care and understanding. Many do but many more don't.
