Our third dog we adopted from FOAS is Nemo, our full of beans little man. This is the first photo we saw of him
Nemo came into rescue because he was a flea magnet, Eileens words not mine He lived with a couple and their little 4yr old and they were due to have a new baby which I imagine will be here now. He continually got reinfected with fleas, sadly although FOAS offered to neuter him, get him deflead and keep him whilst they got the home sorted out they decided they didn't want him back. Mum was afraid if he came back so would the fleas. I think they had used the wrong treatment so it wasn't affective.
He went into rescue, was neutured, deflead, chipped and had his coat clipped. He did actually have to be shaved close because of the flea dirt and I think he was matted. We had lost our big girl Deeber and our little man Zebedee fairly close together and although Paddington, Megan & Georgia were still with us the house was to quiet. Then I saw the photo of Nemo and fell in love with him straightaway. I showed him to DH who as usual said mmm, what's his story then. As before I kept watching his thread and thought at one time he had been adopted, it's not good for my heart to do this it skips beats whilst I scroll down the pages I was looking once again when he walked past me I mentioned him again. Not an immediate response but as he walked out the door said 'Are you saying you'd like him then?' I said I'd like to ask about him. So he knew then and said 'go on then ask Eileen if you can bring him home' I didn't need telling twice It was really late but I pm'd Eileen and yes he was still available and she'd be happy for him to come to us. Well I went to bed floating on air that night. I rung my sis the next morning to ask if she was ok for another journey, she said she knew it wouldn't be long as I'd talked about him so often and was really happy for us. We couldn't collect him Saturday as that the was the weekend FOAS opened their new charity shop so we arranged for the Sunday. My car by now knows it's own way down there, DH says one of these days I'll say find Eileen and it'll drive off on it's own.
Again my heart fluttered all the way down there, getting more excited as each mile was behind us. The moment he came out of the car, he was full of life. I have to add here we met the gorgeous Mr Jimmy, Eileens Maltese, he's wonderful and loves his Mum very much following her with his eyes wherever she walked.
He was great in the car and settled down straightaway, when sis left us he curled up and went back to sleep. We had decided DH would come outside to meet me with the others when I got home
so we could take them all a walk together. It worked, from 10mins after we got back in Georgia the hussy was chasing around the house and garden with our new little man. They were having great fun together, Megan was a bit wary of him as he was very much in your face, not naughty just eager. I have to say though he has been gentle with her from day one. He's tried to play with Paddington but he doesn't play only occasionally so they have shouting matches instead!! There isn't even a hint of aggression, they just bark at each other and will keep it up until I step between them to break eye contact. It can get quite noisy. When they're outside they run about together, will walk together and even lay near each other in the house. It's only a month so it's early days yet but this little man has brought laughter back into our lives. We went through a very upsetting time and it was like the sky clearing after rain. He loves his Dad, when I'm in on my own he follows me about with the others and will sit wherever I am, he's curled up beside me now on my knitting basket on a cushion. However once Daddy is home that's it. He chose to sleep with his Dad from day one, this is fine but after his last night time wee if he's been on the grass and it's wet he very rudely wakes his Dad up with wet feet and sloppy kisses. If I did it I'd get into trouble Nemo gets a big cuddle ! He spends the rest of the night cuddled up to him.
He's full of beans, interested in everything, clean in the house from day one and is very, very cuddly. Being cut down he looked quite gangly and long, all feet and legs, now his coat is growing and the beautiful colours are showing through it has a beautiful texture and will look wonderful when it's grown, it's lovely and soft, shiny. I'm sure he's crossed with Tigger, he bounces about when I'm preparing their food and leaps everywhere. He is very obedient though and will sit and wait when I tell him, he eats his food very quickly and at first I had to keep him on a lead but now he'll sit and wait while the others finish. He has a nose like a bloodhound and can smell meat at 100 yds. His previous family gave him up and that was sad for them but if they hadn't we would never had have the pleasure of having this little man living with us. He's funny, cheeky and loves his toys, the room looks like a toys graveyard when he scatters them. He loves to sit on the chair back near the window watching the world go by, he doesn't bark when people go by unless they come up the path. He likes to litter the windowsill with toys too.
When out he's quite good but like Georgi is gobby, however he has one big failing, the little perisher loves to find where the foxes have been and rolls in it and has been known to eat fox poop. The other day he ate some horse manure before DH could get to him. Poor little dog his Dad wouldn't let him kiss him when they were cuddled up on the sofa after his bath
I could fill the pages with his antics, he's a great cuddle monster to have around and as with the girls we thank FOAS for letting us adopt him, he brought smiles back into our hearts.
Dh would not be amused but this is one of Neemy's latest pics taken last night when they were nodding off together!! Wish I'd caught the part where the plate went crashing to the floor a minute or two later and woke them both up Excuse the stitching light and stand it's usually where I sit to do my stitching
