I started FOA after my little Yorkie Sophie went misssing. I started looking for her, realised the problems with unwanted and abandoned dogs and it went from there.
It started off as Friends of the Animal Shelter and there were two of us. We were doing dog rescue locally and helping the local pound. Things didn't work out, we had different ideas and ways of working plus I wanted to help dogs from where ever but she wanted to keep local so we split up.
I changed the name to FOA and it has grown from there. The first couple of years it was really just me doing everything. Jan came on board and since then we have grown at a steady rate. Now there is a great little group all helping the dogs.
I have no idea how many dogs have been found homes but it must be loads now. We dop help other animals whenever we can. I have had cats, kittens, chinchillas, rabbits, hamsters etc., all lodging at some time.
As soon as I get a minute I will write a bit about FOA for the home page.
I never found Sophie, it will be 5 years this 1st August Eileen
