Name: Cleo
Age: 4 months
Breed: Jack Russell terrier
Can I live in a working home:Not full time workers
Can I live with Children:strictly over 8, not even dog savvy under 8’s
Can I live with cats: Possibly
Can I live with other dogs: Yes, only neutered dogs
Fostered In: RCT
People – Cleo loves being picked up for a cuddle but would rather be playing. She currently lives with children between the ages of 8 and 17 and is fine. She can be a bit mouthy and has very sharp teeth so lots of chew toys are needed to distract her. She’s getting much better.
Dogs – Cleo lives with 5 foster dogs of varying size and age. She will growl when playing tug of war with other puppies but not with the bigger dogs who would tell her off. She can be protective of her food so separate feeding areas would be a good idea and additional training in this area is a must. She takes treats from humans with no problems.
Cats – Cleo hasn’t been tested but is young enough to learn with proper training.
In the home – Cleo is crate trained and sleeps quietly in there all night and for short periods in the day when her foster mum goes out. She will chew wires so they must be kept out of her reach and will pinch the washing especially socks-even if they’re still on your feet! Gardens need to be secure as Cleo will find small gaps and squeeze through. House training is a work in progress-it’s better on sunny days than when it’s raining! She’s dry all night in her crate.
Out and about – Cleo has started to go on short walks on a lead but will need more practice to build up her confidence. She travels well in a crate in the car. She’s a pup who loves to be in the thick of everything-she happily swings off the washing on the line, chases the bigger spaniels around and is active for large parts of the day. She is a typical terrier, into everything and constantly active. She needs a person/family who can cope with this.
Type of home – Cleo needs a home with terrier experience who are willing to work with her and help her develop into a good all round dog. She will need to go to puppy socialisation classes so if you are lucky enough to have an interview please be prepared with details of classes local too you. She needs someone to be home for most of the day who will keep her mentally and physically active so she doesn’t get bored. She will only go to a part time working home if there is another dog. She can be rehomed as an only dog if her humans are around to keep her amused. It is our policy to only rehome where all resident dogs are neutered.
Cleo is chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. She will be rehomed with a neutering contract and the potential home will need to commit to neutering her at 6 months of age. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in RCT, South Wales.
