If you are interested in long-term fostering Alfie please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form (link below) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat. There is no adoption fee for Alfie as he will remain under the care of FOARCT

Name: Alfie
Age: 5-6 months
Breed: Springer Spaniel
Can I live with Children: Yes
Can I live with cats: Not tested
Can I live with other dogs: Yes
Fostered In: RCT, South Wales
Alfie is a nearly-6 month old Springer Spaniel puppy, who is currently being cared for in RCT, South Wales. Alfie’s story is a very sad one. He has chronic renal failure and we really don’t know how long he has left. It could be a month, it could be a year or more.
What we do know is that he acts like a normal, bouncy pup. He is fun-loving, active and full of mischief and his condition doesn’t stop him from being naughty!
It is a big ask but we are looking for a selfless family who will look after Alfie for whatever time he has left. A family who will give him everything in, what could potentially be, a short space of time. Runs on the beach, picnics by the lake, dog shows, snoozes on the sofa, endless games of fetch in the garden, and most of all love him and be there for him when the time comes.
It is a lot to ask of his potential family but we believe that they are out there and can make what life he has left the best it can be. We will cover all of the vet expenses relating to Alfie and will provide the specialist food for him too.
Potential long-term fosterers will be expected to travel to meet Alfie in his foster home in RCT, South Wales, and also live within reasonable travelling distance to our vets in Llantrisant or Bridgend so he can receive the regular check ups that he will require.
NB: Our hearts go out to Alfie’s original owner who bought him in good faith but he fell ill within days of arriving home. This lovely lady spent her last penny on trying to make him well and it was a very brave decision to hand him into rescue so he could receive the best care. Back yard breeding has to stop. If his breeder had been reputable and had properly screened Alfie’s parents for congenital conditions then perhaps the story would have had a happier ending.
We have been through a huge range of emotions here at FOARCT, anger, upset, disbelief but now we have to put our emotions behind us and concentrate on finding this boy a home that will give him everything he deserves.
