Say hello to the latest member of the Wonky Dogs and Cats Club. Curly Sue is an older, female cat, who has spent a few months being looked after by the vets at V.E.T.S in Ystrad Mynach. She came to them with an old pelvic injury, which healed very badly and her tail curls over her back instead of hanging straight. She is a very sweet girl but is restricted in her movements so no jumping. She would be ideal for an older person who would give her a lot of attention – as a house cat or with a safe, enclosed garden. She has an odd walk and despite everything is such a happy cat. Curly Sue is not ready for rehoming just yet as she needs to be checked out by our vets.

It turns out that little Curly Sue isn't much of an explorer. She is settling down well in her foster home and is happy to stay indoors. Can't really blame her in this weather!

We have had an update on Curly Sue now that she has been checked over by our vet.
"Curly sue had X-ray's today which showed she has severe damage to her spine and a condition called spondylitis. Phil said its rare in cats. Everything else appeared fine except for bad teeth. It's strange as her breathing is rapid and odd but they found nothing. He's staying in for 48 hours to be observed. Feeling really guilty that she has to stay in as she likes her creature comforts and is so lovely."

What a lovely cat with what appears to be different coloured eyes.

Hi all!
I thought I would introduce myself as Curly Sue's new foster mummy. Sue arrived at lunchtime today and it is like she has always lived here. After a little wander around her new surroundings she knocked over the kitchen bin twice and then actually managed to somehow get inside it! All this from a cat which has limited mobility!? The kitchen is currently off bounds (much to her dislike) until I can buy some new cat proof bins tomorrow.
Despite her issues she has such a lovely friendly nature and loves people. She was obviously very loved at some point in her life. She is very food orientated and ate her food in record timing! I'll keep you all updated with her progress and try and upload some better pictures when she settles down a little.

An update: Curly Sue, named after her very corkscrew tail, has done well but has had several health problems that have caused concern. She was diagnosed with glaucoma, a very painful eye condition, and her test readings were extremely high.
The decision has been made to remove the eye and Curly Sue recently had her operation. She is much loved in her long term foster home and her foster family are, of course, very worried for her.
So sad that she had yet again to face another hurdle but we are sure that as always she will bounce back.

Hi all, thought it was about time I updated Sue's thread.
Sue is doing really well since her operation. The most distressing part of the whole experience for her was having to miss breakfast on the day of her op! Within a few days she was back to her normal self, and even stole a turkey sandwich from my friend's hand the day after her operation. (She was meant to be resting and not getting too excited...)
She's very lucky to have been taken on by Friends of the Animals, and despite their huge vet bills they didn't even hesitate when the vet recommended the operation.
Here's some recent pictures of her

Here she is trying to steal the food from my shopping bag last night. Her mobility issues don't seem to hold her back too much

Thanks Glenice, she certainly doesn't seem to be in a any pain and it doesn't stop her from getting up to mischief!

As long as she is happy and pain free that is the main thing.

She's enjoying herself, so that is all that matters - hope she didn't pinch your tea!! They seem very good at coping with disabilities.
