Lizzie is the sweetest natured little dog but she has one habit which which are struggling to conquer. She will not stop grabbing anything that comes through the letterbox. It's like a red mist descends and she turns into a growling, snapping monster. Does anyone know how we can help her with this? Have tried introducing her to the postman who, luckily, is a 'dog' person and she shook like a leaf

You could have a letter cage, this will stop any mail falling on the floor.

My first German Shepherd used to catch the post as it came through the letter box and punch holes with his canine teeth so all of our letters were ready for filing! We put a letter cage on the inside of the door & when he couldn't get to the post he lost interest. Other option is one of the locking post boxes on the outside wall so nothing comes through the door at all - but this relies on other people using the outside post box.

Thanks. I think we're going to go with a post box outside rather than a cage on the door. The husband wasn't keen, but rather that than someone lose their fingers! At the moment, if she does manage to get the post first, any attempt to get it from her results in lots of growling and baring of teeth (her, not us!) Perhaps she's just trying to protect us from those wretched bills!!

Our Yorkie Florence waits patiently for the postie every day and then throws herself at the door as the mail comes through the letterbox, most envelopes have teeth marks on them!
