29/12/08 RESERVED PENDING A HOMECHECK
Roxy came from the same litter as some other GSDs we homed in May. Half of the litter was taken by another rescue and Roxy was one of the dogs they homed. They are full and cannot take her back so we have agreed to find her a forevever home.
She has been returned because the adopter is moving and cannot take her. She is a lovely girl and has been living with another dog. She has not been socialised as well as she should have been as is a little nervous when out and about.
She will be spayed on Wednesday and will have to start her vaccinations again because her new owner failed to have the second one done. We think she is a litter sister of Radar whoes photo can be seen on the photo competition section FOA dogs.

Just wanted to say good luck to Roxy in finding her forever home. Radar too is very nervous when he is out and about, he does not like strangers coming into his home either, but never shows agressive nervouseness, just hides behind his mum! lol. Our vet is adamant that the nervousness comes from not being socialised at the really early part of his life, prior to 12 weeks old when he came into rescue, and says he will probably always be on the nervous side because you cannot get those vital first few weeks back, but all said and done he is a wonderful and bright boy and very keen to learn, and I am sure if Roxy is his litter mate then she too can be taught that the world is not such a scary place. Radar has bought us nothing but joy, and I am sure Roxy would do the same for her new family. I have put a couple of recent pics in happy endings.

Another post from me, sorry! Keep looking at her lovely face, she's such a good girl especially considering how strange today must have been for her! She is adorable, just got up to take her for a wee. Had some minor trouble with her lead being too much fun for her *bless* she loves tugging you around with the lead in her mouth, whilst you on the other hand are freezing in your dressing gown at near 3am, urging her to wee! But, I have an apple tree in the garden, there are apples scattered all over the floor.......little Roxy thinks it's ball heaven!!!! So it's really easy to redirect her from tugging to carrying an apple in her mouth and then she does a wee. Already I have a collection of apples on the doorstep that she has dropped for safe keeping each time she comes back indoors........she is toooooooooo cute! She has now mastered walking with apple/ball in mouth and leaving me to do the holding of the lead Kat

She is beautiful, inside and out. She has such a gorgeous heart, I feel as if I am in love!!!! She's been stuck to my side like glue all day, even when she sleeps she wakes up and licks me,Boo and Tim before settling back down. It's like she's checking on us to make sure we are either okay or still here. Ooooooh, what a gorgeous girl she is x

;D I love her!
Today's update ;D
Last Night Roxy Foxy went to bed and settled at about 1am, I woke last night at about 3am to Roxy snuggled right in my arms in our bed, oh it was lovely. Little Boo was snuggled up to her too. She got up at 7am with me and she had been clean with no accidents, took her out for wee wees. Came back in had breakfast and then out again after 15 mins for a poo and ball games. Had a good play and game session on the lawn, apple and ball count at the door is now six! Had to leave them today as had a doctors appointment, I left Boo in the lounge and Roxy had the run of the hall way and Kitchen. Came home and she was so pleased to see me. In a bit we are going for a walk into town again as we did yesterday. She needs lots of this, but slowly, gently and calmly as she is very nervous of the hustle and bustle BUT she is doing well, bless her. We are learning to sit and wait whenever we come to a road as she would just charge straight into it if allowed to. She is learning so much from Boo and is following his lead with little bits like this. I hope she stays for a little while so I get the opportunity to really help her learn all these things, she's a big bag of jumping beans with so,so much potential. Oh Roxy, we love you, we do!

;D This girl, Oh My ;D Today she met a lady on a mobility scooter. she was very nervous. This lady was so lovely and could see she was scared and waited whilst I encouraged Roxy to approach for a stroke (the lady had asked first if she could stroke Roxy). The lady loves dogs and was so interested in hearing about FOTA and Roxy. Roxy sat there, she had a sniff of the scooter and then enjoyed fuss. This was really important for Roxy as she is so nervous of new things. She is a brave girl and looks to us and Boo for guidance, she puts a lot of trust into us and it's really helping her. She's doing so well on her lead walking and I am confident that in a few more days we'll have it sorted. She is the fastest learner I have ever had the pleasure of teaching, a very very bright girl x x x x x x x x x x Ooooh, Roxy is doing so,so well ;D She's a real lovely, she really is. She is a very high energy girl and really loves her exercise. I have been up every morning bang on 7am since she arrived, to a gorgeous Roxy licking my face ready for her morning walk ;D She loves the idea of going out but she does get nervous of all the new things, sights and smells once she's there. She is gaining in confidence, once she knew she could trust us she allowed herself to be guided into new situations and now you can see her confidence growing. She loves play time and is like an eight week puppy in this respect, she loves her toys, balls, rug pullys, teddies. She has lots of play time, training time and gentle walks as part of her daily routine. She likes to be kept busy, but is learning how to spend time relaxing too, enjoying a massage and lovely strokes. Her are some pictures of her in the woods yesterday, I did have some pictures of her on the clent hills today but having trouble uploading them atm

We took Roxy to a lovely place yesterday, she came across lots of other dogs during our walk and recalled instantly to me rather than greeting the other dogs, once we checked it was okay with the other owners she went to have a little play with them but constantly keeping her eyes on us and coming back to us immediately once called back. Her recall is excellent  She is also very good with other dogs, she seems to be brilliant at reading them and playing happily. We walked for a good four hours, once we got home she settled with her bone and had a good chew and play. Our Boo will sleep for hours after a good walk but Roxy likes to have something that requires thinking to do after a walk, ie activity toy, chewing a bone, something that she can do herself. She will then sleep through the night rather than taking naps through the day. She has now learnt to ask to go outside for a wee :yay: !!! She indicates this by sitting at the front door doing a little whinny, I am sooooo proud of her!!!!!! Anyway, here are a few pictures from Sunday

Ktrina you are doing a brilliant job with Roxy. She looks like a different girl. She spent most of her time in a crate and had very little exercise before she came to FOA. She must think she has died and gone to heaven. Thank you so much
