Vet said she probably twisted her knee being a bit overenthusiastic with Dusty. She is back to shorter walks, not ready for hydro yet, but he is still pleased with the way her knee is healing.

She went to the vet again yesterday and he is still pleased with her...she is walking well. He says that we will have to walk her through the limping as she now needs to get used to walking further again. She is booked in for her first hydrotherapy on Monday. The vet says that we can use painkillers for her until we get her over this patch. Dusty has developed a crush on the lady next door who comes and takes her out for a L O N G walk everyday. It is good company for her recently single dog. Dusty stands near the window looking for her and squeaks when she sees her coming. Thanks for asking.

Hope Coady makes good progress, and not in too much pain.

She has just been for her first hydrotherapy visit. Two short supported swims followed by a warm bubble spa, shower and blow dry. She didn't think much of the hoist to get her into the spa but apart from that everything went well. She is booked in for the next two Saturdays. The hydro therapist was pleased with her weight, he says he treats a lot of very overweight Labradors. She's fast asleep on her bean bag now.

Sounds like a spa day to me!!
I know they get very tired after a trip like that, but it sounds as though she's well on the way to recovering.
She's lucky to have the two of you.

Lovely to hear Coady is recovering well. It's a slow process but hydrotherapy is amazing and can have fantastic results! I do hope she'll be running around again soon. X

Just been for another check up. She is doing okay but the vet said he would have liked to see more muscle build up. So she should go for longer walks and can do steps, hills etc. We can let her off lead on flat walks but keep her on if the terrain is more hilly...just in case she tries to do something silly. So she is not out of the woods yet but will be okay for our holiday.

It's a little difficult doing any long walks with the weather being hot! At least you don't have to worry that you're overdoing it though

Yes, both Coady and Dusty are stretched out on the cool tiles at the moment. It is far too hot to do anything energetic.

Back home from holiday. Dogs had a lovely time running along the beach and paddling in the sea. Hopefully it has done Coady the world of good. We are back to hydrotherapy tomorrow.

So pleased to hear Cody is making an improvement. I do think the sea does so many dogs good and really seems to help their joints.

She is okay, back to enjoying her walks...but then doing a lot of sleeping when she gets back. She is eight now, which isn't old for a lab but she has had such a lot of surgery that she does like to take things easy (except when she is on her walks). The seaside holiday did her the world of good. The fur on her back where she was shaved has grown back every-which-way so she looks rather unkemptfluffy! We are all living upstairs at the moment as we are having extensive work done on the downstairs floor (there's just a big hole atm)so both dogs have the privilege of being able to sleep on the bed with us. Coady manages the stairs okay but she is a lot slower than Dusty (except on her walks). Dusty is a joy as always and has made very good friends with Tango, the dog next door. Tango squeaks like Dusty so they obviously understand each other. We will all be going for a long walk around the reservoir in a little while...lots to explore for the dogs but flat for me. Paul will stay in the car, he is having to rest his leg having fallen down the hole that used to be the living room floor!
