Mickey is very poorly so lots of good thoughts needed. He is having fluids but the prognosis is not good.

I see this thread goes back to August 2008, so Mickey has done amazingly well, hasn't he? Is he a permanent foster somewhere? He looks so cute in his photo - very kind eyes (just like a you-know-what?) Will hold him in our hearts up here, poor little fella

Mickey has been with us since Nov 2007 in a local foster home. His mum went in to hospital and a lady on DP offered to lok after him for a couple of days.
The owner died and she was left with a dog with serious health problems. She had not been told about Mickey's health issues and was not in a position to keep him or afford his costly meds. We offered him place and he has been with us ever since.
He is a fab little dog with as many lives as a cat but the vet rang this afternoon and is very concerned that Mickey may have used the last one up. We have given the goahead for whatever they can do as long as it is in Mickey's best interest and his foster family are devastated. I hope he oproves then wrong and pulls through again.

The vet has rung to say that Mickey's kidney scores are still off the scale. He has stopped vommiting so we have agreed to give him another 24 hours on fluids. If things haven't improved tomrrow he will go home for a last couple of days with his foster family.

So sorry to hear Mickey is still unwell, but pleased that he has such a lovely foster family in which to spend his final days. It's the last act of love.

Well all the good thoughts have been working because Mickey is a lot better. How many lives has this little dog got?
He was allowed home to his foster family on Friday and had to go back today. He has had more blood tests this morning and things have improved so he has again gone home.
He is not better but he is better than he was and as long as they can get him to eat some suitable food which in itself is a nightmare then he has bought himself some more time.
Way to go Mickey.
