Fostered In: Cardiff, South Wales
Rosa is a 3-year old West Highland Terrier cross Bichon Frise who is being fostered in Cardiff, South Wales. She is a delightful girl who is just starting to come out of her shell. She is loving and affectionate and now she is staring to be playful. We don't think her true character is out yet but we are starting to see a cheeky playful girl who will lie on her back and wriggle and play with your hand.
People – Rosa loves humans (except vets). At first she will take a little time to approach you but she loves strokes, cuddles and being held. She shares her affections and is great with visitors. Rosa loves human contact as long as it is for comfort rather than investigation. She gets wriggly and tries to run away when she knows her ears are being touched in order to administer ear drops! She adores children.
Dogs – She is fostered with a 12-year old Jack Russell male and a 5- year old shih tzu female, She has been fine with both of them except for one incident involving food where she tried to steal food which the other female dog was eating. They are both fine together now no further incidents and both dogs cuddle up together in the same basket or on the settee.
Cats – Rosa does not like cats.
In the home – Rosa has been left with the other two dogs for a few hours and she has been absolutely fine. She can be found either cuddled up on the sofa with them or sitting at the window watching the world go by. She also sleeps downstairs at night sleeps right through without a peep. Rosa has lived outside and it seems was neglected. The result of this is that she places high value on food and will scavenge and look for food at every opportunity. She will try and eat from the other dogs bowls once she has finished hers so we feed them separately. She does however takes treats in turn with the other two dogs and is slowly learning to wait her turn.
Out and about – Walks really well on a lead trots along nicely beside you but does like a longer lead to go off and have a sniff when in the woods. She has met lots of different dogs on her travels and has been fine with all however is a little wary if a larger dog approaches her but she just stops and hangs back until they say hello then she will sniff and be friendly
Type of home – Rosa could live with kind placid tolerant dogs however we think she would be most suited to being an only dog. A retired couple or individual who is home most of the day who could lavish the love and attention she so desperately wants and deserves. Visiting children would not be a problem. She could possibly live with dog savvy children too.
Rosa is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in South Wales
