Mildred has been to see our vet today. She was able to get a cotton bud down in to the ear canal and the ears are still full of pus and infection. The right ear is much worse that the left but both are a mess. It looks likely she will need the full total ear canal ablation in both ears. The surgery cannot take place until the infection is under control so Mildred has a course of stronger antibiotics to try and help clear this up. There is no point in taking swabs at the moment as the previous course of ab's would be likely to give a false result. If after this 10 day course there is still infection present then she will have a week without antibiotics and then have swabs taken to isolate the type of infection. She is also on metacam which is not only an anti inflammatory but also gives pain relief. Mildred will return to the vets in 10 days and hopefully the infection will have cleared enough for her to have surgery. In the meantime Mildred is doing well in her foster home and is in pretty good spirits.

Message from Fosterer on Friday 30th Just got back from taking mildred to vets there happy with her left ear no treatment needed atm although they're on about maybe removing the nodules. She's on another 10 day course of antibiotics & continuing with ear drops on right ear. If after 10 days its still mucky she needs to go back 5-7 days after antibiotics have finished for a swab. It is less mucky & she was pleased with her
