Name: Pembie
Age: 7 years old
Breed: Shih Tzu
Can I live with Children: Older sensible children
Can I live with cats: Not tested
Can I live with other dogs: Yes, a must
Fostered In: South Wales
Pembie is a 7-year old Shih Tzu girl who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales. She is a sweet little girl who has come a long way in a short time. Pembie is intelligent and quick to learn. She is also very food motivated but does need to be told not to snatch. She is very active and a serious toy collector!
People – Pembie shows some nervousness when she meets new people but that will improve when she has mixed with more kind humans. She has yet to meet children so only older sensible children and introductions should be supervised.
Dogs – Pembie gets on really well with dogs and settles really well with them. Due to her background Pembie will only be rehomed with a kind resident dog who can help her gain in confidence.
Cats – Not tested with cats
In the home – Pembie, once settled in the home, is a bit like a bull in a china shop especially if there is a plate of food coming her way. Pembie has been left alone with other dogs for short periods with no problems. Pembie does like collecting things and putting them in her bed/s. She LOVES toys and has taken lots of the toys to her two "nests". There is no aggression or resource guarding. She is happy to be touched once she gets to know you.
Out and about – Pembie has not been out for walks yet although her lead training has started in the garden with no issues.
Type of home – She needs to have an owner who has plenty of energy (although she does sleep for large parts of the day like all Shih Tzus if you are at home) but we do think that when she gets more used to the real world she will love walks and training to keep her mind active. She would be most happy with a single lady owner BUT as she gets more used to people this is likely to change and may even fit in with a couple or a family with older children. It would be better if her new owner was home for most of the day although she can cope with a couple of hours in the company of another dog. Whoever Pembie’s forever owners turn out to be, they will be blessed with a very loving faithful companion.
Pembie is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in South Wales.
