A very quiet hello to Olaf. Olaf is about 6 years old and is being fostered in Barry, South Wales. He is an ex-puppy farm stud and has spent most of his life on his own.
People – Olaf is a very timid little chap and people who are standing up overwhelm him a bit. Once everyone sits down he will approach for a cuddle and loves to be very close to his humans. He will not come near anyone if they are standing up as he is very nervous and keeps his distance as soon as you move he runs and hides. He will let you smooth his back when laying on you doesn’t like his mouth being touched. He runs a riot when his human come in from work with the other dogs jumping up and down and giving kisses.
Dogs – Olaf is coping well with other dogs and he will definitely benefit from the company of a small, quite brother or sister. He loves to run after the other dogs wagging his tail.
Cats – Olaf is not keen on cats. He cannot work them out and will chase them given half the chance.
In the home – Olaf does like to be with his humans most of, if not all, of the time. He does not like being left alone hence the need for a companion. His house training is a work in progress. Olaf loves his food and, given the chance, will eat everyone else’s as well. Although not at all aggressive, he will push his way in.
Out and about – Olaf is still too nervous to go out and about on a lead and this will need to form part of his ongoing development. He is starting to relax in the car.
Type of home – A home with someone home most of the day and at least one another dog is a must. Older children or quieter junior school age. Someone who wants a lap dog as Olaf needs to be near or on his human all the time they are home. He is a cuddle monster. Human contact, a loving home, toys and a warm bed are all new to him and he is starting to learn what it is all about. He will come and sit next to anyone on the couch and, if possible, he will sit on their lap.
Olaf is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with his flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet him in his foster home in Barry, South Wales
