This poor dog was found in a state of collapse by a good Samaritan in Mountain Ash, Cynon Valley. She kept him safe until one of volunteers could rush to pick him up and get him to our vets. He is currently having blood tests to determine if there is any underlying reason why he is so emaciated. We will reserve judgement on any owners until we find out if (a) he has a medical condition, (b) if he has been wandering for some time or (c) has been starved and dumped. Hopefully there will be an explanation of why this poor lad is a complete bag of bones and hardly able to stand. Our vets have named him Worzel which we think is very appropriate. He is not chipped and he is a wonderful, friendly boy despite everything. Update from our vets. Worzel's bloods have not shown any indication to an underlying condition that would explain his wasted body. Some levels are out of kilter but this would be related to his condition. In the meantime he is warm and well cared for. After several days hospitalised Worzel has moved to an experienced foster home where he will receive the care he needs to recover. He has had some problems vomiting after meals which is not unusual in an animal that is so emaciated. He is now on six small meals a day and he is starting to gain a little weight. It is just the start of his recovery but we are optimistic for the future of this wonderfully natured dog.
