We welcome Beattie to the Wonky Dog and Cat Club. She is a 14-week old Golden Retriever x Old English sheepdog pup who seems to have some possible issues with her waterworks. We hope that it is something straight forward but are concerned it could be possible ectopic ureters which is where the kidneys are not connected properly to the bladder. She will be visiting our vet Karen Davies of Maesglas tomorrow when we hope to know more. She is otherwise a very happy puppy. Update: Karen examined Beattie and it does look like she may have ectopic ureters and a tiny bladder. She will behaving X-rays on Thursday. Beattie is due to have an operation at the end of August to fix her waterworks issues. It will cost between £2500 and £3000 so if you would like to donate towards her treatment please do so via Paypal. Our email address is foawales@aol.com

Foster mum update: Beattie is doing really well since her op. She is hardly leaking at all now but is not enjoying this weather for toilet training,as she goes about every 10 minutes. I'm sure this will calm down as her bladder stretches but she looks so pleased when she gets praised for going outside. Her stitches are out next Monday which will please her as she is probably fed up of foster mum following her around making sure she doesn't lick them

Beattie has been doing well since her op. Her recall is coming along and she is enjoying being out playing with her two foster brothers. This weekend we took her to the beach and she was able to run around and play which was lovely to see She is still a bit leaky at times but she is on some medication to help control this and there is hope that once she has had her first season this might correct itself without the need for any further surgery. Fingers crossed.

Just a quick update on how Beattie is doing. Not much has changed since I last posted,She is still on medication 3 times a day which she takes like a good girl. We are patiently waiting for her to have her first season in the hope that this sorts her leaking out and she can stop taking it. Other than that she is a fab puppy enjoying life to the full. She loves nothing more than playing ball in the field with her foster brothers and splashing in the stream. It's great to watch her personality develop in the months that we have been looking after her and she is gaining in confidence all the time.

Beattie has had a new foster brother to play with this week in the form of Max the cocker spaniel x poodle. I didn't think it was possible for a dog to have more energy than Beattie but I was proved wrong. They have thoroughly enjoyed playing together and chasing each other around which is really lovely to see. It would be great if the rain would clear up so they can do a bit more of this out in the garden rather than around the house as neither of them is overly keen on this horrible wind and rain.

Beattie had a good Christmas with lots of walks to the forestry. She really enjoys running around and is not at all fazed by the wet or how muddy she gets. We are still patiently waiting for her first season and until then she is still on her medication. The new year has brought Beattie a new foster sister,Sadie, who she loves running around the garden playing with. We are all really enjoying fostering her and everyday she makes us smile.

It's been a while so I thought I would do a quick update on Beattie. As I type she is busy sunbathing in the garden. We are still waiting for her to come into season but there is still no sign and She is still on her meds 3 times a day which she takes like a good girl. There have been several new fosters for Beattie to play with since my last post, Barnaby the Bassett x , Max the Bichon and Coco the bichon x who is currently still with us. Beattie has made great friends with all of these and seems to enjoy the comings and goings of different dogs to entertain her. She is an angel in the house and will happily sleep all day until a new foster arrives to play with her. Out and about she loves nothing more than running in the forest or playing ball with her foster brothers. Xx
