Star cannot speak in the human sense of the word. She cannot tell us what her life was like before she came in to rescue and we can only imagine the horror of what that life was like. We may never know how her leg was broken, how her skin became so infected and how long she went without food and who was responsible. She can though talk to us with her eyes, with her actions and with the wag of her tail. We know that she is thanking all of us. We called her Star because we really didn't hold up much hope for her survival, our amazing vets at Maesglas warned us of the risks and then as always did their utmost to saver her. We appealed to all of you for your prayers and for your positive 'get better' thoughts. We kept her in our hearts and so did you. She heard and she knew there were wonderful, loving people who wanted her to make it and she did. Many of you donated towards the cost of her treatment. This has so far come to £1,151.49 and you have donated enough to pay for it all with a little left over for her ongoing care. You donated online, phoned the vets, sent cheques and called in our shops. Our wonderful volunteers stood in the freezing cold at boot sales to raise over £300 and Maria the amazing owner of AllBreeds Grooming in Tonypandy did a sponsored slim. We bought Star a fab new bed and told her she had to pull through because there was no way any other dog was going to have it. We all saved Star and although she still has a long road to travel until she is completely fit I know she is telling us to tell you 'Thank You'.

How wonderful to see lovely Star looking so well after all she's been through and how fantastic to have raised all that money and more! It somewhat restores my faith in humanity, just to know that, although it was an unspeakably cruel individual who put her in that situation, the good will out and a truly good bunch of people have put right what a rotten soul sought to destroy. Star one - bad person nil! xxx
