As you probably know, I'm struggling to keep the quiz going as we're almost out of prizes
A couple of suggestions have been made so I thought I'd ask what you all think
1 - we make the quiz monthly rather than weekly
2 - as the cost of postage is so high these days (often more than the cost of the prize itself) , would people be prepared to offer to make a donation to the nominated rescue instead? It would mean that the rescue would receive more as the Royal Mail could be taken out of the equation
Thoughts please?

Once a month would be a good idea and I think a donation instead of prizes. Although if anyone does want to send a prize then that would also be fine. Plus may I make a suggestion? The whole idea was that as many rescues as possible benefit. When in the excitement and speed of the game I find myself saying the name of the rescue that is shortest and often one that I have nominated many times before. May we leave the choice of rescue to the end of the quiz so that we can make sure that some of the longer names on the list can be chosen. Mary x

I think a later time would help so people can get tea and dog walking etc sorted first.

Yes! I agree Jean about the time---later would suit me better too.

Good idea Mary, some rescues do seem to get nominated regularly - possibly just because they're familiar to people
The quiz start time on the TRPD board used to be 8pm, I'm not sure why it was changed to 7pm

I have thought of a problem!!!! Who will do the donating of money? It could not be the person answering the questions because if they were a clever clogs and answered 6 questions they would be donating six times. We would still have to have a list of people willing to donate! If people are unwilling to donate prizes they would still be unwilling to donate money . Also not all rescues have paypal and just sending a second class letter costs 50p now. I think if it were not for the fact that I do not want to let Anne.Marie down --I would really be saying that the quiz has run its course. I think it only fair to be entirely honest! Mary x

As you say, Mary, we would need people to offer donations in the 'prize box' - so if we don't get any offers of donations or prizes then we can't do the quiz any longer

Sorry folks but it looks like that's the end of the Sunday quiz ... no offers of prizes and no more posts on this thread either so I think people have lost interest If nothing changes by next weekend then I think we'll have to call it a day

I am sorry to read this, it was a dream of our dear friend wagtails and it was fantastic when Eileen said that FOTA would host it, she had so much enthusiasm for it I think it was inffectious, sadly now she is to poorly and I belief she would rather call it a day than to see it struggle on. Well done to all who have made it last this long xx

No, lets keep it going , we need to rework it somehow. Think the later time is good, 7pm is too early for me and I always remember about 7:20pm. Also suggesting rescues afterwards is better for me too as sometimes you suggest a dog rescue for a cat item in the heat of the moment. Will have think ut need to get going now.

It would help if the quiz were later - 7.00 is about bath and bed time for the kids so I can't ever join in.
Perhaps instead of prizes people could donate for a specific question - which maybe the donator could set?

I think that a later time would be ok, but the main problem is that if a small prize is donated, it costs £2.20 to post it - which is quite a lot of money if you donate 5 prizes.
