We took our babes up the mountain for a walk as we were going towards the car all the babes ran into a dyke and we saw something wrapped in a bin bag. I woosed out and couldn't look, hub said he was pretty certain it was a dog, large retriever type, golden fur. It was right by the entrance/exit to the walk. HOW COULD THEY? ?!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully this dog died and the owners did not know what to do with the body though to be honest they could have dug a hole and buried it. I know it is now quite expensive to dispose of animals bodies as they have to be cremated.

Thank you for your replies, I did wonder whether I was 'too' upset!
Thinking out loud, so don't shoot me!!
To get that dog where they did, they had a car, why couldn't they have got a spade and at least done the right thing for this dog?
Where this walk is you can hear and see cars pull up from a good distance so lack of cover and fear of discovery don't do it for me. Other walkers can be spotted from afar too.
It was only about 10ft to the cover of trees.
The poor dog was put in a water dyke where a lot of dogs drink from.
Not just adult dog walkers use this path, many people walk their children here (I guess with the same intention as us dog walkers, wear the buggers out before bedtime!!).
It is expensive to hand your loved one over, but its a lot less to buy a spade.
No one knows what this babe died of, is it infectious, is there a chance our babes have got somat?
I've been in the position of living in a flat and having two cats pass away, somewhere in Woodgate Valley are two little plots and hopefully two little spots of light running around and having fun. There's plenty of land around here, they could get to the top of the mountain.
I called RCT Council who directed me to the Forestry Com. I called the local manager twice, no answer and left a voice mail and have since sent him a text, no response yet.
I can't help but think of the Dickens Type word 'ignominious' the other one I think of questions parentage.

Maybe we do a memorial? All agree to donate all our loose change for a week to FOTARCT as a sort of memorial?

I'm gonna put some flowers up there. Some artificial ones have been up there for at least two years, no indication why.
xx
The Forestry guy has just called and says he will arrange to remove this poor babe. He expressed concern about how this babe was dumped and the danger to public/animal health, cos of it being in water. Sounded a nice guy and gave him due warning about not getting his hills and mountains mixed up!!
