An update: We need lots of prayers, good wishes and positive thoughts for our very old lad Skippy. He came to us two years ago when we were asked to pick a dog that needed to be euthanised. "I arrived at the smoke filled flat to find an ancient blind terrier lying on a bed. I knelt down to see if he was still breathing and spoke to him and he crawled on to my lap. The owners agreed to me taking him and giving him a chance." That was two years ago and this wonderful old dog has been in the care of one of our brilliant team of fosterers, Pat Luckwell, ever since. The damage from cigarette smoke could not be reversed but medication has helped with his dreadful chest condition. He is arthritic and has had ongoing eye problems. Today we learnt that he has glaucoma in both eyes and the epulis on his gums has grown. Surgery to remove his eyes and the epulis is not an option with his chest condition so he is on meds for 48 hours to see if the pressure in his eyes can be reduced. He is the most wonderful old man who has had a lifetime of love and care whilst he has been with his foster mum. We now need the meds to work to buy this boy some more time.

Our dear old man Skippy the Jack Russell left for the bridge this morning. He was no longer having the quality of life he deserved and had enjoyed for the last two years. We have no definite idea of his age but was a very old man and we always knew he was on borrowed time. Pat Luckwell, his foster mum, had taken the very best care of him and he was loved and cared for every day he was with her. RIP Skippy, a very special old chap.
