Bessie will be joining us in a few days. We have been asked to help by the wonderful staff at Swindon Pound. This is where Pickles, Geordie, Wilf and some other poorly, oldie and abused dogs have come to us from.
Bessie is a little collie x who was seen being tied to a tree by a couple who ran of shouting "Bye Bessie".
Bessie is older but not totally ancient, very thin, is scabby and has sores. She will see the vet first and travel to us when she has the all clear to be moved. Sometimes some of the people in this world just break your heart don't they.

Poor Bessie, but it sounds as though it has been the best thing for her, as the owners did not seem to care about her or her poor condition, where as now she will be loved and cared for. can't wait to see a piccie of this girly, bless her.

Alison has sent me an email with some more info on Bessie. They have traced some details about her through a microchip and she was a stray in Co Durham in 2006.
Vet check yesterday found following - horrible infected ears, really filthy. She's going to have to have them cleaned daily as well as antibiotic drops. She is a very sweet temperament apart from when having ears cleaned and had to be muzzled for this - didn't go crazy but did snap but the vet did say it would be extremely painful so she can't be blamed for that! Bad flea allergy, bald bum and scabby all over - been treated now with advocate. Overgrown nails which we've clipped and has sores on paws probably from chewing/licking The vet found a very slight heart murmer and her left hip is a little stiff but neither of great concern - she may have to go on something like metacam for the hip but she didn't seem to be bothered at all by it. Couldn't find any lumps etc of any concern. Slight cataracts and teeth aren't brilliant but not too bad and certainly not the worst I've seen! Quite deaf but that could be due to the muck in her ears. She's underweight - just over 11 kgs. When at the rescue in 2006 she weighed 17 kg. Nothing wrong with her appetite, we've got her on small meals of puppy food at the moment to try to build her up Seems to be ok with other dogs - she met two of mine last night as I had them in the car! And as said, nice temperament, picked her up to put in car and only problem had at vets was with ears. Smelly! I'll see if they can give her a bath. We're investigating the details of the previous known owner but are happy for her to go in the meantime so really is whenever you can take her. She'll be much happier out of the pound, is quite depressed at the moment poor little thing.

Poor girly there are some very strange and curl people in this world we are ment to be advanced species but with Animal cruelty and neglect on the raise because people get bored fed up and the cost of owning a Animal is going up all the time. Is that a reason to throw away a dog who can't tell you what's going on watching them suffer I think not.. The worst bit is there are very few Charitys who unlike Friends of the Animals can not take in any more dogs, the law needs changing and the people made to suffer like they made there dog (or any animal) grrr I am going to see for defiantly pick this poor little girl I may get my mum to pick her up and I will collect her from there. I am sure there is CCTV outside the council offices in Swindon might be worth asking them.......
